BOOKING A WORKSHOP - INFORMATION:

Booking onto a workshop, course or club:

You can book onto a workshop either by emailing suebrownecreative@hotmail.co.uk or by using the contact tab on the menu below to reserve a space, request further information, or find out which workshop would suit you best. You will then be emailed a booking form which you will need to return along with your payment. Once the transaction is completed your booking is confirmed. All FASHIONSKOOL workshops, courses and clubs are deliberately small to ensure you receive full attention. Bookings for workshops are taken on a first-come-first-served basis and, as spaces are very limited you are advised not to delay to avoid risk of disappointment. Club members have priority booking for subsequent terms.

Ability Levels:

FASHIONSKOOL's holiday workshops are individually graded to specific skill levels: beginners, beginners+, intermediate and intermediate+. Children’s workshops and clubs each have a minimum age recommendation (from age 8+). It is suggested that you follow these guidelines when making an initial booking and seek guidance for moving up to higher levels when you attend your session. Our Teen's Dressmaking Clubs cater for mixed abilities and are suitable for Beginners+ in school year 8 to those studying Fashion and Textiles at A-level, the Pre-teens Dressmaking Club is suitable for Beginners+/age from 10 years. Adult (18+) dressmaking classes are currently available on Friday mornings and are ideal for beginners or refreshers up to intermediate level.

Equipment:

All equipment and materials are, unless otherwise stated, provided for the session. However, please feel free to bring your own sewing machine if you are lucky enough to have one. Please ensure that it’s in good working order and, unless you are booking a complete beginners’ class, you must be able to thread it up yourself. If you would prefer to bring your own machine and equipment please advise this prior to the class as it will assist in the room prep. It is also recommended that you bring slippers or soft shoes to wear to avoid the danger of occasional pins and scissors left lying on the floor!

Dogs, babies, young children, illness and restrictions:

Sometimes our dog is at the property. She is small, friendly, won’t jump up or bark at you and is low shedding; so not usually a problem for allergy sufferers. Adults are welcome to bring (and take responsibility for) pre-crawling babies in adult classes however it is not appropriate to bring young children.  Please consider others by not attending or sending your children to their class when they're ill or self-isolating, anyone visibly unwell may be asked to leave.  We are no longer requiring our attendees to wear face-masks, however, should government advice change we will revert accordingly and ask that all visitors comply with any restrictions set by FASHIONSKOOL whilst attending the sewing school. We still ask you to take a covid test if you have any covid symptoms as we have attendees with vulnerable family members and are happy to provide lateral flow tests for you in advance, on request and without charge.

Minimum class-size numbers, cancellations and etiquette:

FASHIONSKOOL holiday workshops require a minimum of 3 bookings in order to run. For the majority of machine-sewing projects the maximum class size is 4. You will be given at least 48 hours notice prior to the date of a workshop if it has to be cancelled due to it being under-subscribed. In the event of a workshop having to be cancelled for any reason an alternative date may be offered or fees can be transferred or refunded as you prefer. Your own cancellation of a workshop booking will only be refunded where the workshop space is able to be re-filled (with the exception of a positive covid test result, in which case you will be credited for a future workshop).

For FASHIONSKOOL term-time clubs and courses it's a minimum (and maximum) of 4 bookings in order to be able to run. Club and course start dates may be delayed or may be subject to cancellation if minimum bookings are not met prior to the start date. Cancellation of club fees will only be refunded where a half-term block of classes can be re-filled. Occasional missed classes will not be refunded.

Please do not arrive late as it delays the session and is unfair on others in the group. Equally, it is appreciated that you don't arrive more than 5 minutes early as there is no waiting area and it may delay setting-up for the class.
