The Chanel-style Jacket
The iconic Chanel-style jacket is a true fashionista's favourite; it is timeless and classic as well as cute and seriously fun and will add a stylish edge to your wardrobe. FASHIONSKOOL is proud to offer this beautiful version to make for yourself in a day! Ours is waist-length, unlined, panelled for shaping, edge-to-edge fronted (no button holes or fastenings), has full-length set-in sleeves and two front patch pockets. Yours will be unique as you'll source your own fabric and trims and decide where you'd like to apply them.
It's an ideal sewing project for those who already have established some good clothes-making skills, are regular stitchers either by attending one of FASHIONSKOOL's dressmaking clubs or have attended several clothing workshops previously and are ready to step up to an intermediate+ level challenge.
You will need to provide your own fabric and trims for this project (materials and trims length requirements and supplier recommendations will be given when your booking is confirmed); recommended fabrics include medium weight woven cottons or textured cotton mixes: cotton jacquards, bouclé, waffle, velvet, brocades, denim, tweed-look etc; with or without a little stretch.
You’ll be shown how to prepare, pin and cut out your fabric before piecing together your jacket using an exclusive FASHIONSKOOL paper pattern provided in your chosen size. You’ll learn how to join the pieces together by stitching them on a sewing machine, neaten the raw edges using an over locker, attach interfacing where necessary, make set-in sleeves, neck facings and patch pockets. Trims may be attached by hand or machine.
Choose from the following teen's sizes: 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12 and state your size when booking so that a pattern can be prepared for you.
Equipment, basic haberdashery and light refreshments are included but please bring a water bottle, slippers/soft indoor shoes to wear and a packed lunch; weather permitting we'll be having a picnic in the garden.
