Skirt Day!
Choose from the Bubble, 2-Tiered and Skater Skirt options
In this workshop there's a choice of three gorgeous skirt styles using Fashionskool's exclusive own patterns. The current on-trend silhouette - the Bubble skirt and the 2-Tiered skirt incorporate higher skills for those who have already gained a little more sewing experience, whilst our all-time-favourite, the 'Skater' skirt, is ideal for those who have begun making clothes and are ready to move up to a beginners+ level project. All three of these projects include different sewing skills relative to your own sewing experience. Whilst all are rated as Beginners+ level, suitable for those who already know how to use a sewing machine and have completed a previous clothing workshop, if you're still relatively new to sewing, the skater style is the ideal follow-on project to easy-level pyjamas and the other two styles are a great follow-on to the skater skirt project, (please check with Fashionskool if you're unsure of which style is appropriate for your skill level).
The skater skirt (shown above in blue gingham) is a semi-circular style, always has great appeal as it's a pleasure to make, fun to wear and is a timeless style which looks different in every print or fabric used so has seemingly endless possibilities. The other two styles include a higher skill: gathering. In the case of the bubble skirt (shown above in green and pink ginghams) the outer skirt is gathered into a lining in a concealed way to create volume and a beautiful 'balloon' effect, whilst the tiered skirt (shown above in floral print) has a full tier gathered into a semi-fitted yoke. All styles finish just above knee length, have an elasticated waist casing which is ideal for growing bodies and allow for a non-critical fit.
You’ll learn how to prepare, pin and cut your fabric (using an exclusive FASHIONSKOOL paper pattern in your chosen size) and how to sew neat seams and attach a separate elasticated waist casing. The skater skirt skills include turning a neat hem and the 'Bubble' and 'Tiered' skirt skills include gathering.
Please state which style you'd like to make when booking so that a pattern can be prepared for you in your chosen size.
