Tiered Skirt

FASHIONSKOOL's new project for summer 2023; our tiered, trend-driven maxi-length skirt not only works perfectly for high and late summer, it's set to be a statement look for autumn/winter '23 too. This beautiful long skirt takes on a different appeal in each fabric or print it's constructed in, so has seemingly endless possibilities and will hopefully be loved, worn and re-used for many years to come. Rock the 70s vibe by wearing it now with your canvas high-tops and pretty blouses and later in the season with heavier boots, woolly tights and cosy jumpers.

This workshop is ideal for those who already know how to use a sewing machine, having completed at least one 'Beginners level' AND one 'Beginners+ level' project and wish to further develop their machine-sewing skills. This time you're learning to gather fabrics together.

You’ll learn how to prepare, pin and cut your fabric (using an exclusive FASHIONSKOOL paper pattern in your chosen size) how to finish seams neatly, turn hems, learn to gather a frilled skirt onto a yoke and turn an elasticated waist casing.

Choose from the following sizes and state your size and length requirement when booking so that your pattern can be prepared for you:

Age 11-12, or teens sizes: 4, 6, 8, 10, 12

(finished 'teen's' skirt length = approx. 33"/85cm -amend to your own taste)

For this workshop you will need to provide your own fabric;

a usable 115 cm width or wider: for sizes from age 11-12  up to teens size 12 = 2 metres length.

Suggested fabric: medium dress-weight 100% cotton woven plains or prints (1 or 2 directional prints) and seersucker, chambray or linen.  Please avoid using obvious checks or horizontal stripes which will need matching, or any slippery fabric types (polyester, satins etc).

All equipment, threads, elastic and light refreshments are included.  Please bring a packed lunch and slippers to wear.

Level: Beginners+/ Age 11+

Date: Tuesday 22nd August, 2023
