The simple tote bag is an ideal first project for beginners; just the right size to fit your books and mags into for school or the beach and the ideal way to learn your way around a sewing machine!

This workshop will show you how to prepare, pin and cut-out fabric using a paper pattern before stitching your own unique and ultra-useful tote bag from a selection of gorgeous cotton prints with a contrast inside facing. Pick up lots of tips as you learn new skills including how to turn sharp corners, finish seams neatly, make facings in a contrast print and sew on a patch pocket.

All materials and equipment are provided however, do feel free to bring your own sewing machine if you are lucky enough to have one (it must be in good working order and you will need to bring the instruction manual unless you already know how to thread it up by yourself) otherwise use one of Fashionskool's lovely full-size pink machines.

Please bring a packed lunch, a drink and snack, slippers /soft indoor shoes to wear and a face mask. Weather permitting, we'll eat in the garden!
