Learn to Use a Sewing Machine and

Make a  Brilliant Tote Bag

The tote bag is an ideal first project for beginners; just the right size to fit your books and bits and bobs into for school or the beach or to take to the shops and it's great way to put new machine-sewing skills into practice. The session will begin with a short lesson covering the basics on a sewing machine which will include threading the top part of the machine and some confidence-building stitch exercises.

You'll then be shown how to prepare, pin and cut-out fabric using a paper pattern before stitching your own unique and ultra-useful tote bag from a selection of gorgeous cotton prints with a contrast inside facing. Pick up lots of tips as you learn new skills including how to turn sharp corners, finish seams neatly, make facings in a contrast print and sew on a patch pocket.

All materials and equipment are provided. Please bring slippers /soft indoor shoes to wear, a water bottle and a packed lunch; weather permitting, we'll picnic in the garden!
