The Pre-Teens Fashion & Textile Club
Our new after-school club meets on Fridays during term-time and is ideal for older children who are keen to learn real skills within a small group. Already confident in using a sewing machine, our fashionistas are engaging their creative side through experimentation whilst building new technical skills within a variety of inspirational fashion and textile focused projects.
Having previously attended some FASHIONSKOOL holiday workshops, you'll be looking to develop your skills in machine and hand-sewing, with an interest in designing and making your own clothes and creating your own style. This club's inspirational projects cover a variety of creative textile techniques including fabric manipulation, print, knit, surface embellishment and embroidery, focusing on customisation, up-cycling and re-imagining of existing garments, as well as constructing your own garments using and adapting an exclusive FASHIONSKOOL paper pattern.
Each term there will be one customisation project (for which you may need to provide a pre-worn garment) and one 'new' clothing project (for which you'll need to provide your own fabric). Materials will be provided for all other projects along with haberdashery, equipment and light refreshments.
