How To Copy Your Favourite Garment

A Pattern-cutting and making course                for teens and adults

Ever wished you could duplicate a favourite garment but don't know where to start? This 2-day pattern cutting and making course is suited to teens and adults with intermediate dressmaking knowledge and covers all of the skills you'll need to make a paper pattern copy of an original garment on day one and make up the garment on day 2. In addition  you'll learn how to make simple alterations and adaptations to your pattern, customising it to suit you.

Within a small group, your first day will start with a demonstration before you begin to work independently on your own project with plenty of guidance as you make your paper pattern. On day 2 you will cut and stitch your garment into your own choice of fabric, which should be a similar fabric type to the garment you are intending to copy. Estimated fabric lengths and advice on fabric types will be given on booking and projects are reviewed.

Equipment and pattern paper are provided for your use, however please feel free to bring a notebook and camera/phone to jot down notes, make diagrams, capture step-by-step images and write garment-making instructions for your own future reference.

Refreshments are provided. Please bring slippers or soft indoor shoes to wear and a packed lunch, weather permitting we'll picnic in the garden.
